300 jobs to be created in West Belfast

We’ve had some great promotion on a new contract acquired by Job Assist in the Andersonstown News last week. Here’s the article written by Ciara Quinn:

300 jobs to be created in West Belfast

Employers from the public and private sectors have been invited to attend a number of information roadshows to help the long-term unemployed back into work.

The IEP (Belfast West Integrated Employment Programme) funded by OFMdFM through the Social Investment Fund (SIF) aims to create 300 jobs along with core training in the greater Shankill and West Belfast area.

The funding is estimated at £3 million and it is envisaged the programme will be rolled out until 2016.

Speaking to the Anderstown News, Economic Development Manager with the West Belfast Partnership Board, Caroline Nolan, said: “We would be encouraging employers from the care, childcare, construction and security industries to attend the upcoming roadshow.

“One will be held on Wednesday July 29 at Springvale Learning from 8.30am, we have another one scheduled for Thursday July 30 at the Falls library at 2pm. We have other dates coming up in August and its our aim to start advertising jobs in the local press for September.

“Job Assist located within Upper Springfield Development Trust are our key partner in this initiative and Christine Cahoon from the USDT is one of the mentors on the project,” she said.

“All that we ask is that potential employers be based in the north and have opportunities that are accessible to the unemployed living in the ‘Belfast West SIF zone.’ This is a very positive initiative and opportunity for the area and we look forward to welcoming employers to the upcoming roadshows.”
