Direct Links Transport aims “to provide an accessible and affordable transport service within the local community on a non-profit making basis”.

Mission Statement

“To overcome social exclusion and enhance the quality of life for people living within the community”

Direct Links Transport is a social economy business and can only provide transport to not-for-profit community / voluntary / statutory organisations, associations and groups who become an affiliated member.

Who can benefit from Direct Links Transport:

The following priority groups are specifically targeted:

•    Persons with disabilities
•    Elderly people
•    Youth
•    Carers etc.

Member groups can include:

•    Playgroups / after school clubs
•    Mother & Toddler groups
•    Youth groups
•    Luncheon clubs
•    Sports groups
•    Community groups
•    Church groups etc.

With a higher need for appropriate transport Direct Links Transport has provided a solution, created employment within the community, improved access to services and give improved opportunity to our identified target groups.

Direct Links Transport currently has at its disposal 3 buses, fully accessible for able bodied and disabled customers.  All vehicles are available with a driver who is trained to the highest standard.

Direct Links Transport is a member of the Community Transport Association:

The Community Transport Association http://www.ctauk.org is the national body for the community transport sector. It is the UK’s biggest provider of training, advice and information on accessible, voluntary and community transport provision.

Hire Costs

Cost per bus with a Direct Links Transport driver    £15.00 per hour
Cost per mile    79p per mile
For example: When hiring a bus with driver - You need 1 bus.
Hours: The journey will take 1 hour, driver will wait 1 hour and then bring you back home taking 1 hour. With vehicle checking & preparations time (1/2 hour) the total hours hired = 4 hours
(4 hours x £15.00= £60.00)
Miles: The journey covers 34 miles (all mileage is taken from Direct Links Transport’s base and back to base again).
(34 miles x 79p = £26.86)
Overall Cost = hours + miles = £86.86
If it was 2 buses = £173.72

Minibus Driver Awareness Scheme

To ensure safe driving within the community Direct Links Transport has a qualified Driver Assessor Trainer (DAT) who can provide full Standard and Accessible Minibus Driver Awareness Scheme (MiDAS) certificate training for drivers.
Training can be arranged to suit individuals and groups.
Training Costs
MiDAS (Minibus driver awareness certificate) – required by all drivers     £60 per person (lasts 4 years)
