Contact Intervention Project

Mission:

The Youth Intervention Project in partnership will provide a holistic innovative service targeting marginalized young people and adults within the Upper Springfield Area.

Ongoing work:

Over the past 12 months, both staff and partners of the  Youth Intervention Project have continued to provide innovative services to children, young people and adults, within the Upper Springfield Area.

The youth project continues to offer additional services/support to  St.Aidan’s C.B.P.S and St.Bernadette’s P.S and St. Gerard,s Resource Centre including drama, sport and the arts.
The youth project works directly in partnership with:

  • Conservation Volunteers Northern Ireland (C.V.N.I)
  • Corpus Christi College
  • Falls Community Council (F.C.C)
  • Healthy Living Centre
  • I.M.P.A.C.T
  • Probation Board Northern Ireland (P.B.N.I)
  • St. Aidan’s C.B.P.S
  • St. Bernadette’s P.S
  • St. Gerard’s School
  • Terry Enright Foundation (T.E.F)
  • Training For Life
  • West Belfast Area Project (B.E.L.B)
  • Westrock/Whiterock Parent & Youth Support Group
  • Y.A.H.O.O
  • Youth Action
  • Youth Justice Agency

The youth project continues to make a positive impact in young people’s lives, undertaking outreach/detached work, whilst complimenting this with a variety of personal and social development programmes.

Some examples of their work include:

  • Challenge For Youth Summer Camps
  • Diversionary programmes
  • Terry Enright Challenge
  • Volunteers programme for young people (including accredited training)
  • Youth Achievement Awards

The youth project continues to identify, engage and provide for those young people deemed most ‘at risk’ or ‘socially excluded’ within the area and clear intervention has taken place with these young people.  One example of this includes one young person who had previously come through the programme.  They re-engaged with the team, and by working in partnership with the Youth Intervention Project, P.B.N.I and Challenge For Youth, participated in the ‘Time For Change Programme’, a 5-day intensive personal & social programme which recently took place in Scotland.  From this, they will receive on going one-to-one support with a focus on achieving their full potential.
