The Upper Springfield Development Trust’s Youth Team wishes to recruit the following posts for their Street Works Programme:

Job Title:         Assistant Youth Support Workers x 3

Location:        689 Springfield Road, Belfast, BT12 7FP

Hours:             6 hours per week (43 weeks per year)

Salary:             Minimum wage

Contract:        Fixed term contract until the 31st December 2021 (funded by Children In Need)

 

Job Purpose:  The Street Works Programme is an exciting new addition to the Upper Springfield Development Trust Youth Team menu of community Youth Work services.  The project is funded by Children In Need and will last for 3 years. The Street Works Programme will operate a youth ‘drop in’ service, alongside outreach detached work, on Friday, Saturday and Sunday evenings. The programme will make three significant differences to young people’s lives.

  1. The Street Works Programme will ensure young people are physically safe & well.
  2. Young people will become positively empowered by leading and directing the programme.
  3. The programme will build positive relationships between young people and youth workers which will enhance the social inclusion and community connections for young people.

This is an excellent opportunity for young people who are just beginning their pathway into a professional career in community youth work. Successful candidates will be employed for the duration of the 3 years of the project and will be expected to complete a range of relevant community youth work training programmes throughout their employment as part of a personal and professional development plan.  In addition to this candidates will be supported by professionally qualified youth workers and an organisation with a proven track record of effective youth work delivery.

This programme will be delivered on Friday, Saturday & Sunday evenings between 8.00pm and 11.00 pm and will involve supporting young people via a youth ‘drop in’ and engaging young people via outreach and detached work.
